General Info:
The Marlboro Track Team was formed in 1993. The Marlboro Track Team is a co-ed, competitive track and field program. All participants must join Marlboro Boys and Girls Club (MBGC) but, unlike some of the other programs within MBGC, the track team is open to athletes between the ages of 6 and 18, regardless of where they live.

The MBGC track program covers every facet of track and field and emphasizes individual growth, sportsmanship, skills development, self discipline and commitment in a structured and organized environment. Competition events include sprints, middle and long distance, shot put, high jump, long jump, hurdles, pole vault, javelin and discus.

Practice
Practice is mandatory. Track is an extremely time-intensive program, which demands the commitment of the athletes and their parents. The track team practices 2-3 days per week during the regular season (depending upon the ages of the athlete) and up to 4 days per week during the extended season (i.e. for athletes preparing for regional and national competition). Most practices will be held at Frederick Douglas, H.S.

Track Meets
Marlboro Track  consists of over 100 athletes competing in a wide range of track and field events. Initially, track meets are held locally in Maryland and Virginia. If athletes continue on with the extended season, regional and national events may be held anywhere in the US.

Season
The regular track season runs from March through the end of June. The extended season (athletes preparing for regional and nation competition) runs through the first week of August. You have the option of participating through the regular or attempting to qualify for the extended season.

Parent participation is the rule, not the exception.
